Refills & Prescription Transfers
Is it easy to transfer my prescriptions to Parkway?
Yes. Call us or stop by the pharmacy to request a profile transfer. We'll call your old pharmacy and handle the rest. Most transfers are processed the same day, and your first refills are typically ready before you leave the store.
How quickly can my prescription be filled?
When the medication is in stock and the prescription is ready to process, many prescriptions can be filled in minutes. Compounded prescriptions may take longer. We'll always give you an honest time estimate up front and text you when it's ready (ask us about text alerts).
What is MedSynch?
MedSynch coordinates every prescription you take so they all come due on the same day each month. One trip, one pickup, fewer missed doses. We handle the coordination with your prescribers and call a few days before your sync date to confirm any changes.
How do I download the Rx365 app?
Search 'Rx365' in the App Store or Google Play, then search for Parkway Pharmacy and link your account by scanning a bottle or entering your name and date of birth. Or ask at the counter, we'll help you set it up in a few minutes.
Can my doctor send prescriptions electronically to Parkway?
Yes. We're in every major e-prescribing system. Just give your provider 'Parkway Pharmacy East' (Guntersville) or 'Parkway Pharmacy South' (Arab) and they'll find us instantly.
Compounding
Do you do compounding?
Yes, at Parkway East in Guntersville. We compound for people and pets, including bioidentical hormone replacement (BHRT), pediatric flavored suspensions, topical pain creams, dermatology formulations, and veterinary medications (flavored chews, transdermal gels for cats, custom-dose suspensions). All compounding requires a prescription.
How much does a compounded prescription cost?
Compounding pricing varies by formulation, ingredients, and quantity. Not all insurance plans cover compounded medications, so we always provide a cash-pay quote up front before mixing. Many patients find compounded prescriptions affordable; some are pricier than mass-produced equivalents because of the time and ingredients involved.
Immunizations & Vaccines
Can I get a flu shot or other vaccine without an appointment?
In most cases, yes. Walk-ins are welcome for flu, COVID-19, shingles, pneumonia, Tdap, hepatitis A & B, and several others. Call ahead for travel vaccines or anything less common, we want to make sure it's in stock before you make the drive.
Insurance, Medicare & Payment
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, Medicare Part D, Medicaid, Tricare, Humana, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Express Scripts, OptumRx, and CVS Caremark. We also honor GoodRx, SingleCare, and WellRx comparisons at the counter. If you're not sure, call us with your card and we'll check while you wait.
Are there fees for any of your services?
Most of our services, refills, text alerts, MedSynch, comprehensive medication review for Medicare Part D members, are free or covered by insurance. Compounded prescriptions are priced based on the formulation. We always tell you the cost before mixing or filling.
Over-the-Counter Products
Do you carry over-the-counter medicine, vitamins, and gifts?
Yes. Both locations carry over-the-counter medications, supplements, vitamins, and medical equipment. Parkway East in Guntersville also has a full gift shop with local Alabama goods, candles, kids' books, and seasonal items.
Store, Hours, Locations & Contact
Do you have a drive-thru?
Yes, both Parkway East in Guntersville and Parkway South in Arab have drive-thru windows during regular store hours. The drive-thru handles drop-offs, pickups, and many quick questions.
Do you offer curbside pickup?
Yes. Call when you arrive and we'll bring your order out to the car. Convenient for parents with sleeping kids, anyone with limited mobility, or just on rainy days.
Do you have a hospital relationship with Marshall Medical Center North?
Parkway East is located directly across Hwy 69 from Marshall Medical Center North. We coordinate routinely with the hospital pharmacy on discharge prescriptions and ER follow-ups, and we can typically have a new prescription ready before the patient finishes the drive home.
General Pharmacy Questions
Can I move my pet's prescription to Parkway?
Yes, both locations dispense pet medications written by a licensed veterinarian. Parkway East additionally compounds custom veterinary medications, including flavored chews and transdermal gels for animals that won't take pills.
What is your privacy policy for prescription information?
All prescription and medical information is protected under HIPAA. We do not share patient health information with marketers, advertisers, or any third party except as required to fill your prescription (your insurance company, your prescriber, and where the law requires). Our staff is trained in HIPAA compliance.
